About the I/O Vice-chancellor

Prof. P. S. Avadhani is an eminent academician, researcher and administrator. He obtained his M.Tech. and Ph.D. from the Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur.

Prof. Avadhani has had a distinguished academic and administrative career spanning several decades. He served as Director of the Indian Institute of Information Technology (IIIT), Agartala, and has held several important academic and administrative positions at Andhra University and in various institutions at the national and state levels. His significant positions include Chairman, Faculty of Engineering, Andhra University; Head, Department of Computer Science and Engineering, Andhra University; Director, Information Management Centre, Andhra University; Officer on Special Duty, College of Engineering, Andhra University; and Placement Officer, College of Engineering, Andhra University.

He has also served in several eminent academic and professional bodies, including as Member, Board of Governors, Indian Institute of Petroleum & Energy; Member, Board of Governors, Indian Institute of Engineering Science and Technology, Shibpur, West Bengal; Member, Laboratory Council, NSTL, Visakhapatnam; Member, Selection Committee, DRDO; Member, Curriculum Development Committee, UGC, New Delhi; Member, Board of Studies, North-Eastern Hill University, Shillong; and Member, Boards of Studies of Acharya Nagarjuna University, Adikavi Nannaya University, Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University and Krishna University.

He served as Convener of PGECET, Andhra Pradesh, for three consecutive years and has held several other important positions in Andhra University and the Government of Andhra Pradesh.

Prof. Avadhani is a prolific researcher and academician. He has guided 41 Ph.D. scholars, authored 6 books, and published 238 research papers in journals. He has delivered 121 invited lectures and has been invited to academic and professional institutions in countries including the United States of America, Turkey, Iran, Malaysia and Singapore.

In recognition of his contributions to teaching, research and academic administration, he has received several honours, including the Best Teacher Award from the Government of Andhra Pradesh, Best Researcher Award, Best Academician Award, Best Principal Award, Distinguished Academician Award and Distinguished Researcher Award.

His professional and social leadership includes serving as Chairman, Computer Society of India, Visakhapatnam Chapter; President, Vignana Bharati, Andhra Pradesh State.
